There are many things to consider when choosing or designing your wedding cake, so let us help give you some things to think about:
-First off, how many guests will there be
-Many still follow the tradition of saving the top tier for the 1st anniversary: will the top tier be saved, or will it be included in the servings?
-Who will be cutting your cake? A professional, like your caterer, is familiar with traditional sizes of a wedding cake slice, however friends and family will most likely cut the slices larger, meaning you may need to add a little extra cake to account for that. No one wants to run out of wedding cake!
-Will there be a grooms cake? If so, this can be calculated into the amount of servings
-What are the colors of your wedding?
-Do you have any pictures of cakes you like? If so, bring them to the baker at your appointment
-Are you interested in a stacked cake? Or are you interested in any of the various cake stands, pillars or fountains? These will include either a rental fee and/or refundable deposit
-If you want fresh flowers, will your florist provide those? Will the florist or the baker set them up?
-Will you be picking out the cake topper yourself?
-Where is your wedding located, there will be a delivery and set up fee: the further away the baker, the more expensive the fee, but also means longer travel time and more chance of the cake being damaged
